25.10.2007 - Since Slovakia had been divided from Czech Republic in 1993, the country stayed in shadow of its bigger neighbors. However, in the last four years its economic growth has accelerated, because of necessary reforms in taxes, social care and pension system.

In the past, two historically important routes – the Amber path and the Bohemian path – led through Slovakia.
